Cronos joins the Movember campaign

Movember (a union between Moustache and November) has become, in ten years, one of the most important social worldwide events for men’s health. The origins can be traced back to 2003 in Melbourne, Australia, when two friends decided to convince their mates to let grow its moustaches in order to support prostate cancer. They also designed rules and guidelines for Movember, which are still current today. With the campaign successful, in 2004 they founded “Movember Foundation Charity”.

Since then, Movember has transcended frontiers. Many states are organizing events every November to raise awareness and funds for men’s health issues, such as prostate and testicular cancer, as well as depression. There are events in Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, United Kingdom, United States, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Netherlands, Norway, Singapore, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. However, there are anonymous contributors around the world.

In Cronos Group we are very committed to health issues. Nowadays, cancer is one of the most deadly illnesses worldwide, with more than 14.1 new million cases every year. Only Prostate cancer had more than 1.1 million cases in 2012, accounting for around 8% of all new cancer cases and 15% in men. In addition, Testicular Cancer is the most common malignancy in 20 to 34 years old men. On the other hand, 1 in 10 worldwide men will require treatment for depression. With all of these numbers, we truly believe companies have to put their part in the improvement of health, and that is why Cronos Group is supporting Movember initiative.
